Code of Conduct

aamet

This code is presented in an effort to encourage responsibility in the practice of Meridian Energy Techniques and to assist Members to operate in a moral way. Any Member who does not comply with the spirit of the Code is considered to have excluded themselves from the Association.

·       Membership of the Association for the Advancement of Meridian Energy Techniques does not automatically imply a qualification to practice, nor to teach Meridian Energy Techniques. Members must qualify as therapists or trainers, according to the laws of the country in which they practice or train.

·       Practicing Members must practice their therapy for the benefit of the client and the welfare of the client should have priority at all times. They must always practice in a morally acceptable fashion.

·       Members must respect confidential information obtained in the course of professional practice except where disclosure is required by law, or where the client involved has given written permission for disclosure.

·       Practicing Members should not advise a client to discontinue medication unless specifically qualified to do so.

·       Practicing Members should not diagnose, unless trained to do so, and should always be aware of any limitations in their knowledge, being willing to refer clients to others (including conventionally medically qualified practitioners) if the case merits it.

·       Members should not act in such a way as to bring discredit either on their colleagues nor on members of any other therapeutic discipline. Specifically they should not make adverse comment on the techniques and therapy provided by others.

·       Members should conduct themselves in an honourable and moral manner at all times.

·       The client’s welfare is of the utmost importance at all times. If this cannot be maintained, the member should terminate the technique or therapy, or refer the client elsewhere.

·   A clear statement of fees should be made before the commencement of treatment. Practicing members should regulate their fees having considered their needs and the ability of their client to fund their treatment, and should consider offering free or reduce cost treatment and training to those unable to afford the full fee.

·    Practicing members must carry Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance.

·     Practicing members may use the initials MAAMET or MIAAMET after their name
